These days, no matter what the unemployment rate may be, it seems finding a job you love is just plain HARD. The competition is stiff. The selection process is arduous. Much of the initial screenings are conducted by computers programmed with algorithms designed to arbitrarily weed out prospective candidates, regardless of their qualifications. How do you compete? You turn to the experienced and savvy career counselors at Jewish Vocational Service.
“I can’t thank you enough for your patience, guidance, and encouragement when my career came to an abrupt end, and I had little drive or passion. You helped me identify something new on the horizon, and your objectivity, empathy, and confidence in the process was invaluable.”
–Marla Katz, Former JVS Client

A recent report from AARP confirms what job-seekers 50 and over have long suspected: ageism is prevalent throughout the job market—in both subtle and overt ways. To better prepare and equip Adults 50+ for the challenges they are likely to face in their job search, our Career Counseling & Job Placement team offers a variety of valuable tools and resources:
Twice a month, the JVS Career Services presents FREE Job-Seekers Workshops that give JVS clients the opportunity to receive support, make valuable connections, and hone their networking skills. Our guest speakers provide valuable advice on topics like resume writing, interviewing, recruiting, emerging jobs, and more. Each workshop lasts approximately 90 minutes, and attendance currently averages more than 50 participants per workshop. To view videos of previous workshops, please visit our YouTube Channel.
