Meet the people at the heart of our mission—individuals like Roberto, Stan, Georgia, Brittany, Naomi, and Rose—who turned barriers into breakthroughs with JVS by their side.

From learning new skills to finding meaningful employment, they’ve built lives filled with purpose, pride, and independence.

While their stories differ, they share a common journey:

JVS JobSeekers Virtual Workshop: Marketing Yourself to Your Next Career Opportunity

Thursday, January 8, 2026 | 🕙 10:00 am – 11:30 am | 💻 Online via Zoom

Do you think finding your next job is just about answering a lot of online ads? Think again.

Register now for our free upcoming webinar: Marketing Yourself to Your Next Career Opportunity, featuring guest speaker Marty Gilbert.

During this engaging webinar, Marty will explain why it is misguided for job seekers to believe that finding their next job begins with answering a lot of online ads.

At least 70% of all available jobs are not advertised on LinkedIn or Indeed. They’re hidden.

A “new product launch” and a “job search” share a great deal in common. They both require effective MARKETING to make an impression.

That’s why 90% of the job search is all about marketing: positioning, packaging, messaging, targeting, promoting, and convincing companies that you are the best applicant they’re going to meet.

To learn more and register to attend, please visit: jvsnj.org/event/jobseekers-marketing-yourself-to-your-next-career-opportunity-2

This is a virtual event via Zoom. The program is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is required.

[JVS CLIENT SUCCESS STORY] After relocating from Ohio to New Jersey, Vanessa turned to our Refugee Services department for help applying for SNAP and Medicaid.

Once both applications had been submitted on her behalf, she later received denial letters for each program, due to the need to close her previous benefits case in Ohio.

Her JVS Case Manager contacted the Ohio DEFAB office to request documentation confirming that her case had been closed. After escalating the matter with DEFAB, verification was provided. As a result, Vanessa was approved and has now received both her SNAP benefits and Medicaid coverage.

In her words: “Thank you, madame, for all your help. I feel vindicated.”

Stories like Vanessa’s show our commitment to supporting clients every step of the way—transforming challenges into positive outcomes.
