October 19, 2023As we celebrate the 3-day weekend with barbeques and beach days, please take a moment to remember that Labor Day was first observed in the late 1800s as an annual celebration to recognize the many contributions American workers have made to our country’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.
At JVS, an organization dedicated to helping people overcome barriers and join the workforce, this holiday is especially meaningful. Since 1939, we have recognized how important the contributions of each and every worker are to the American economy.
We are grateful to our friends at the Jewish Historical Society of Greater MetroWest NJ for featuring JVS in their blog post today. It’s a great overview of our history.
