Center for Economic Opportunity

The Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest is launching a Center for Economic Opportunity, a transformative new initiative to promote economic revitalization and community-based job creation in New Jersey.

In partnership with local elected officials, community leaders, and the private sector, JVS’s Center for Economic Opportunity will become a needed focal point to aggressively and efficiently find, train, and certify local talent to fill open corporate positions across northern New Jersey. With a renewed emphasis on placing clients into permanent employment positions, JVS will leverage its reputation of service and experience along with its staff, resources, and deep connections in professional development.

“In the simplest of words, the Center improved my life, brought security to my family, and I did not have to leave the Garden State. It has supported me and my goals and connected me to New Jersey employers looking to fill needed positions. I am so grateful.”

–Mayra Nieves,
JVS Center for Economic Opportunity

How the Center Works

This paradigm-changing workforce development initiative will have five core components:

  • Step 1: The Center for Economic Opportunity will create customized, qualifying workforce training programs to address and serve our corporate partners’ specific job training needs.
  • Step 2: The Center will then build fully-certified job training programs while continuing to update and work with our corporate partners to address specific needs or unique modifications.
  • Step 3: Once the needed training is established, the Center will leverage its many entry points throughout New Jersey and create an engagement and recruitment plan to find individuals in our local communities who want to work immediately and specifically exhibit the requirements and interests for the available job openings.
  • Step 4: Utilizing JVS of MetroWest’s infrastructure, classrooms, and instructors, the training begins. Along the way, the Center will provide corporate partners with timely progress reports and updates while also providing mentoring and long-term planning assistance to ensure the individuals in training are ready for a seamless transition to the workplace.
  • Step 5: Workforce clients that complete the designated training programs earn industry-recognized credentials and are now ready to compete in the job market or immediately fill corporate partner open positions. JVS of MetroWest will also provide a system of ongoing support so every graduate has the tools to succeed in the designated job.
