Career Counseling & Job Placement Services

These days, no matter what the unemployment rate may be, it seems finding a job you love is just plain HARD. The competition is stiff. The selection process is arduous. Much of the initial screenings are conducted by computers programmed with algorithms designed to arbitrarily weed out prospective candidates, regardless of their qualifications. How do you compete? You turn to the experienced and savvy career counselors at Jewish Vocational Service.

“I can’t thank you enough for your patience, guidance, and encouragement when my career came to an abrupt end, and I had little drive or passion. You helped me identify something new on the horizon, and your objectivity, empathy, and confidence in the process was invaluable.”

–Marla Katz, Former JVS Client

Student Loans and Grants

It’s no secret that the costs associated with pursuing a higher education are skyrocketing. To help local Jewish students make their higher education experience more affordable, JVS provides two forms of financial assistance to qualified students:

JVS Student Loans

These need-based, interest-free loans of up to $5,000 are available to Jewish college students from the MetroWest area who need financial assistance in order to pursue their full-time college education or graduate program. The loans are awarded only after the student has exhausted all other forms of financial aid available. Repayment of the loan begins one year after the student’s graduation and can be paid on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis until the loan has been repaid in full.

Shapiro Scholarship Foundation Grants

These one-year grants are available to help Jewish students pursue post-graduate degrees in medicine, medical science, undergraduate or graduate nursing, and/or rabbinical school. Funded by the Estate of Belle Shapiro, these grants may be renewed each year, pending the approval of the executors of the Estate.

There is no greater gift than helping someone get and keep a job.
