Interviewing 101: Acing the Subjects They Don’t Teach in College

JVS OF METROWEST TO OFFER WINTER BREAK BOOTCAMP FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS LOOKING FOR JOBS

December 13, 2019 (Essex County NJ)—Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest is offering a four-hour, interactive bootcamp for college students looking to hone their job-seeking skills as they prepare to look for summer jobs and/or launch their careers. Entitled “Interviewing 101: Acing the Subject They Don’t Teach in College,” the bootcamp will be offered twice during winter break: Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at JVS of MetroWest, 354 Eisenhower Pkwy, Plaza One, Suite 2150 in Livingston.

Presented by JVS of MetroWest’s experienced professional career counselors, Dr. Meryl Kanner and Sharon Stern, the workshop will cover the following topics:

 Resume- and cover letter-writing tips

 Interviewing methods

 Basic interviewing skills

 How to prepare for an interview

 Interview dos and don’ts

 The art of body language

 How to make a good first impression

 What the interviewer is looking for

 Tips on creating the all-important “elevator pitch”

The bootcamp will include group discussions and the opportunity to role-play various interview scenarios, as well as the chance to answer a broad range of likely interview questions (including the dreaded “Tell me about yourself,” and “What it your greatest weakness?”). Bootcamp participants will practice their skills in a group setting and will receive real-time, immediate feedback from Kanner, Stern, and their peers. By the end of the bootcamp, participants should feel more energized, confident, and prepared to engage in a successful job search process.

This bootcamp is open to the public. Cost to attend is $250.00 for one four-hour session. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided. Advanced registration is required. Participants will also be asked to complete a questionnaire and submit a resume and sample cover letter prior to the workshop.
